Going Up, a track released in July 2021 on YouTube, is now destined to start climbing the charts – and could be Gutshall’s sixth chart topper.
The cut is a passionate, meditative ballad duet with bassist Brendan Rothwell that was penned during the pandemic “for the sole purpose of soothing our anxieties and lifting our spirits”.
Gutshall, a favourite on Miami’s vibrant Latin jazz scene, has played with Steve Oliver, Paul Brown, Arturo Sandoval and many others.
In Going Up Gutshall offers up Rothwell’s seductive bassline to build anticipation as he rolls out the song’s sultry sax melody.
Together they deliver a hypnotic dual-energy that balances intuitive musical conversations with vibrant solos. And all at once you’ll find your blood pressure droping while your spirit starts Going Up.
