Grammy nominated trombonist Hank Bilal has just released Sunny Days, a dreamy flowing instrumental led by Bilal’s skill and flair with the trombone and backed by a wonderful line up of consummate musicians including Phil Denny on sax.

Bilal was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina into a musical family where his uncles – on his mother’s side – all played instruments. His father played drums professionally.

Bilal started his musical journey in church, in the youth choir. And at home there was always the music of gospel greats being heard.

His formal music education began in middle school. Later he went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in music performance.

Before turning in the direction of more contemporary jazz, Bilal spent many years in listening to classic jazz where he was exposed to the giants of the jazz style.

He has shared a performance platform with many great artists, from performing on the Grammy awards with Aretha Franklin to Gerald Albright, Chaka Khan, Christopher William and The Clark Sisters.

Beyond being a veteran trombonist, Bilal is a pianists and singer. You can also add music producer to the list as he has produced multiple albums, including The Black Aquarius, Brassential ElementsA Bona Fide Christmas, and smooth jazz favourite Beneath the Covers.
