Truly manifesting the thought-provoking title of his fourth album Do What You Feel, veteran urban contemporary jazz trombone master, Steve Baxter’s stirring blend of soulful, funky and smooth music invokes the classic R&B/jazz vibe of Wayne Henderson.

The album finds him joining the ranks of Trombone Shorty and Brian Culbertson as contemporary jazz cats making smooth jazz a wonderland of possibilities for the instrument.

Steve’s unique stylistic array has its roots in his years sharing stage and studio time with everyone from The Crusaders, Gladys Knight & The Pips to Alicia Keys, Babyface and Ziggy Marley.

Adding deeper emotional cool to the mix are the very different moods created on several key tracks by guest vocalists Devere Duckette and Lynn Fiddmont.

The cool, urbane demeanor of this jazzman reflects the diversity of his East Coast/West Coast experience. It provides the perfect canvas for the vivid images he creates with the melodic, spirited strokes of his horn.

Steve is a rare combination of talent and humility. He has a reverence for performing and being a creative artist who has a commitment to build on jazz and music pioneers’ legacy.

His undeniable love for playing and producing music has reached and inspired people around the world. He continues to bring music to another level and contribute to the vision of music destined to inspire generations of artists.
